Scott Spivey
As seen in the Baltimore Sun!
So there are probably a thousand different guitar teachers around here, why pick me? Well, there's an old expression that goes "those who can't DO, teach." The problem is, if the teacher is just a wanna-be performer who wasn't good enough to "make it," why trust ANYTHING they teach? In fact, they'll only be teaching you what has already caused them to not succeed! Maybe you've experience some of this in the past. I've heard from my students countless times, frustrated stories about how their old instructor didn't "teach me what I wanted," or "just didn't get it." I've had students that have been studying for years under the same instructor, and when they switch to me, they say "man Scott! I've improved more in the short time that we've been studying together, than I have over all the years I spent with my old teacher!" The primary difference is, I am not just a teacher, but a real, live, working and performing musician! I know what has proven to work night after night, gig after gig, and show after show. Whether you are a performing musician yourself, looking to brush up on some chops, or just starting out, and are dreaming of your days on the stage, I can get you where you want to be. I've been teaching in the Baltimore area for over 10 years. I've helped students go from knowing nothing about the guitar, to becoming full-time musicians. I've helped the "hobbyist" go from just playing in his bedroom, to maybe playing a couple shows here and there for some actual people!! No matter what your interest, you can be sure that you will enjoy your lessons, and love the guitar. So what about my curriculum is so amazing that insures so much success? Well the truth is, it's built based entirely on YOUR learning level! Each student will receive a learning experience that is specifically designed to meet YOUR individual needs and desires! There are no workbooks, no smiley faces and stars for completed excersizes, only the satisfaction of saying "hey, I've always wanted to play this, and never thought I could!" No matter how many times you come to lessons, or how often you play your guitar, the real deal breaker is YOU. I can bring the best out of you, but you'll be responsible for your study on your own! Don't expect to play "Eruption" tomorrow, if you don't practice your A minor pentatonic scale today! There is no such thing as "busy work" when studying with me. Each little exercise, no matter how mundane, will get you closer to not just playing whatever song you want, but being able to come up with your own individual playing style. Finally, thank you for considering me as your guitar instructor. Feel free to read the FAQ section, as it may answer any questions you may have, and/or shoot me an email. I am confident, that should you choose to study with me, you will leave from each lesson ready to rock, and believing in yourself more than you did when you walked in! |
